How many attacks on Northern Israel

2,560 attacks in northern Israel since October 8 with almost half targeting civilians, involving “more than six thousand five hundred rockets, hundreds of UAVs and over one thousand anti-tank missiles,” according to Israel’s UN Ambassador.

These attacks are responsible for “killing dozens of Israeli soldiers and civilians and forcing over eighty thousand Israelis to evacuate their homes from the north of Israel,” said Israeli representative, Jonathan Miller, at the United Nations Security Council in remarks delivered yesterday.

July 2024 saw 259 attacks launched by Hezbollah and other groups against Israel along the northern border, an average of 8.3 attacks per day. June 2024 saw 292 attacks or 9.6 per day. Hezbollah claimed credit for the majority of these attacks.

July also witnessed the highest number of Israeli casualties, with 17 dead and 67 wounded, due to Hezbollah’s Falaq-1 rocket attack in Majdal Shams. This attack struck a soccer field in the Israeli Druze town, resulting in the deaths of 12 children and wounding 50 more, four days ago.

Two days of intensive attacks by Hezbollah and southern Lebanon militant groups came on

— July 4, the day following the elimination of Aziz unit commander Muhammad Naama Nasser, and

— July 19, the day following the eliminations of Mohammad Jbara, the commander in the Khaled Ali unit of Hamas-Lebanon, and Ali Ja’far Matoq, the commander of the Hajir sector in the Radwan unit.

48.4% of July’s attacks targeted civilians, consistent with the proportion of attacks since the outset of the war.

There have been 2,560 attacks on Israel’s northern frontier since hostilities began on October 8. Although the number of attacks has attenuated somewhat over the last three months, from 321 in May to 292 in June and 259 in July, this does not reflect the intensity and destruction of each month, as it does not account for the number of munitions deployed in each attack. Moreover, this trend has been accompanied by a marked increase in the number of attacks deeper into Israel, targeting non-evacuated areas more than 5 kilometers from the northern border.
